The First "Guild": guilds.newsvine.com

There are now several people around the vine who have started writing about their thoughts regarding newsvine guilds - to those following the debate, it can be tricky to make sure you get all the relevant information. It's times like this that make you think "Wow, I wish there was a guild devoted to newsvine guilds, so it could collect all the relevant posts together in one place." Well, now there sort of is. This is all done with existing newsvine technology (basically, the clipping function combined with a shared account name), so it's not a true "guild" as we envision it, but one step at a time.

This is very rudimentary, but I have created guilds.newsvine.com. I, and maybe a handful of others, will be recursively seeding articles from newsvine as clippings into guilds.newsvine.com. There will be no original posts out of this column - at least not yet. Right now, it's just an aggregation of links within the community that we feel add to the guild discourse. If you know of a site that belongs here, but don't see it, please email me or post a comment on this thread.

That may sound complicated, but what it means is that if you want all the guild information in one place just go here and click the little green watch button. We'll do the rest.

I think we're watching the name get settled. Referring to the concept as anything but "guilds" is going to be getting more and more difficult. And since almost everyone who is interested recognizes the term by now, maybe changing it isn't the best thing to do. Just a thought.
